Selecting Wall Paint Finishes

Nowadays, painting the interior walls of the house is commonly done by the owners themselves or the tenants if they happen to rent the house. This is due to the rising costs of the materials and services charged by the painters. Aside from these, the family increases their bonding moments while doing the job together.

Determine your chosen color and paint finish for the job. Flat finish sometimes also called matte finish is especially good if you want to hide bumps, cracks and imperfections.

Satin finish paint has a smooth velvety look with a bit more gloss. This is suitable for kids’ room walls, kitchens and bathrooms. Semi-gloss paint is often used on doors, kitchen and bathroom cabinet. Watch out for poorly prepared surfaces as this will become noticeable when highlighted by a semi-gloss surface. Glossy paint has a shiny finish. This is becoming more popular on cabinets, trim, and furniture. Sanding and careful preparations of the surface is important before painting.

So why don’t you try painting your own walls yourselves as this will not only give you the mentioned benefits but a sense of fulfillment as well.
